II°. South of the first East-West street

Handwritten: b de ram.

The area excavated in 1955 lies to the West of the region previous and ends at the crossing with the North-South street.

A/ First hall to the East. [handwritten: PC]

In a small rectangular room 2,50 m. East-West by 1,50 m. North-South, with no visible access, two floors can be distinguished of occupation, at 0,80 m. and 1,60 m. respectively.

The upper floor, on which rests at 0,50 a spindle whorl in black steatite (Pt. 25), consists of a deposit of ash grey, with storage jars with ogival base and carinated shoulder (Pt. 37), of the beginning of Iron I.

On the lower floor lay fragments of bone, of bronze and of pottery (Pt. 37): painted sherds of Late Bronze III at 1,60 m., local Mycenaean, lamp with pinched spout, fragment of "milk bowl", jugs and bowls in knife-trimmed pottery, bowls hand-made with "wish-bone" type handle. On the same floor, were grouped five cubic stone weights (Pt. 51). The body of the floor consisted of slag and burnt reddish earth.

Below this floor, at 1,90 m., there was a kind of channel of stones, and at 2 m. the virgin soil was encountered, composed of red clayey earth. In the North-West corner of the room, a jar containing animal bones was set into this virgin soil, mouth downwards (Pt. 39).

B/ XXXXX The small halls further to the West. [handwritten: PC]

Three small halls follow one another to the West of the previous one; they are very poor in finds.

In the first, a tripod dish or mortar was found in basalt, with a diameter of 40 cm., at a depth of 1,40 m. (Pt. 27). In the second, elongated but less than two [handwritten: 2] m. wide, there was at the same depth a steatite cylinder (Pt. 43) The third, of the same width, contained only a steatite seal (Pt. 45), at a depth of 0,50 m.
