With regard to the "survey" by W. FORRER:

" In the town, I have helped, as often as it is necessary, W. Forrer, in his important work of systematic distinction of the two main periods of the site of Enkomi-Alasia, the Bronze phase Late with the fine "ashlar" walls and the later phases in small or medium rubble belonging to Cypriot Iron I.

In the areas where neither W. Forrer nor Ihave taken part in the excavations, the operation is not always easy or certain. Too often, the deterioration of the ruins leaves a doubt about the chronological attribution of this or that portion of wall or of wall foundation, not to mention the places where the multiple superimpositions of remains prevent one from recognising exactly the extent or the very existence of certain of them, and a fortiori their true dating. Nevertheless, on the whole we were happily surprised, Wolfang and Imyself, by the general harmony of our estimates and datings of the architectural remains.
