A = Level III with broken edge running N/S Depth c -2.25m. Distance from cyclopaean wall c 1.10m B = Levels IV and V apparently very close together here c -2.30 -> -2.35m (tell-tale bronze slag evident) Broken N/S edge of these c. 0.80m from cyclopaean wall Revetment wall here sitting partly on level III , partly on levels IV / V C = Brick and stone fill of Level II Above and below are stone concentrations which are perhaps buttresses to give strength to the wall (cyclopaean + revetment) ∴ All levels below II are either cut by the foundation digging of Cyclopaean wall or run underneath it or do not appear, in Trs. 2N - 7N. Nowhere in these trenches does Level III or lower run unbroken up to and against Cyclopaean wall.
