Mi 376 Tomb 1,78 14.31 iron and wood object VG.p.46 "Upper line fairly authentic, except it seems to split at left end. Lower line indefinite because of corrosion and consequent disappearance of some of the outline probably in the cleaning". Since removal of some of earth, has broken through at the point indicated. An iron shaft ca. 0.004 by 0.003 runs along neat the upper line in the drawing. At the middle break, where the wood goes higher, the object as preserved shows an almond-shaped section with the iron about in the middle. Earth removed along the top line shows it distinct and the object having a noticeablve curved ( up at the broad end as it lay in the tomb.) Earth removed from "split" place has wood remain in it but no shape emerges. The broad end finishes in a sort of nail head .026 up and down, .021 thick; the wood comes down below the iron. The object seems too distinct in some xxx of its outlines to be simply a coffin nail with some of the wood adhering. Possibly a toy(?) General diemnsions, see drawing. T of wood along distinct upper line ca. 0.010
