5. DIARY FINAL CLEARING OF "ALTAR 2"
July 16, 1946 Found altar in good shape, but pipe-line to south badly broken on east end. Commenced by clearing weeds, etc. from altar. Started clearing down to bed-rock on NW corner. Sloping under wall, found fill to contain copious fragments of later series of horsemen - one horsemen head from mold 2., & pieces of class VI. It appears already certain that the circular wall was built after TCs were piled in - & that these T.Cs were also broken before stacking.
Margin left: 1.01cm
Drawing: section at SW corner; labels: Wall fill, TC fill, Stereo, Rock
Section at SW corner, looking from inside
All molded TC's & some bone coming out In fill shown above, frags of large TCs - a horses chest nose, a leg prob. of T 1007, etc., shield On E side, practically no sherds or TCs, & no earth except a stereo under wall
