June 7th Today a great many sherds, including a Mi326 lamp (nearly complete, broken) and a fragment of glass, were found in the narrow trench S. of the S. wall. On the other side of the wall two types of earth - red & black-with-stones, run parallel. In K - Λ widening to W there are three strata - black, light red, & deep red, over the plastered pavements, which slopes orbliently to the W. ii 37 - View of M' and M' wid with 1st stones and deep black earth removed, red left. In sections 1 - Λ are many traces of a plaster pavement, which however was curiously ruined in antiquity; it continues along very flat and even around the 1 - K line, but suddenly drops 76, to disappear completely and rise up at a slant again in the δ' - Λ' line. Below it was a bed of sandy soil; in some parts of Λ' there appears to be two pavements, one [illegible] about 4 cm over the other. A coin was found in the very SW corner of happs this morn; on a line with the pavement but just N of it.
