June 30_ Bath; looks as if Rooms to R + L of Deep circular cistern bath may be additions. S. wall of Room 1. does not make bond.

E. Exedra of Bath. Note marble revetted niche at center.

Drawing: ; labels: 42, .10, 42, .13, c 1.50?

Later center was filled out, or may have projected as a shelf with statue above? Waterfall? This arrangement only in center - no sign of it at sides. Block w. (drawing) and cut for pipe in bottom centre, may have gone at back for a niche. ht. of block, .50 - More probably in situ, and there were 3 niches.

D. of bath from ledge: 1.13 ±

Walls of hypocaust area built very solid, of large, square blocks going to rock. Whereas exedra of cold bath rests on rubble fdn. of small opus incertum with mortar containing much aggregate of small sea-pebbles. Hence not contemp.

Round kiln (?) at N. of hypocaust. is late. Could not have served the bath very well acct. of level?
