21 March 1949 Found at foot of wall of Pit 60 but not clear whether it was found in earth which [illegible] has fallen in here since year or whether at greater depth than we have gone to date. Depth 1.160 from height of wall. May have come from side of Pit 160 - having fallen from edge of pit. cont. p. 1380

3. Grid A - 1 r north 0-4. Samples of strat 2 surround area. Strat 3 [circled: a] ground level contemporaneous with verge of road (curb) showing with some debris over it. In background, strat. 2 changes before reaching ground level. It does this only in vicinity of wall. Same time & exposure. Looking S.W.
