DIARY 2. June '49

Cistern 3

Continuing to dig out cistern. Finished removing 1369-7 and began 1369-18. For stones removed from Strat. 7, see Film 126-2. Only rough stones varying in size up to average max. of 0.33 m (greatest dimension). Removing all that is found near walls separately in view of what I said in yesterday's Diary. All lamps and by far the greater proportion of glass in Strat. 7 was found near walls. Teopkos tells me no thin blown glass was found in the center of Seven; only near walls.

BATH S. of large plunge bath

Continued where I left off (31 May) removing 1261-11, Strat. 1, south of large plunge bath, Dark, loose surface soil, many stones of varying size. Am leaving larger ones as found for present.

Mr. Hill continued as yesterday to remove debris over floor of South bay of room 3.
