DIARY cont from p. 1728

therefore until farther notice in Diary, I am referring to this building as the Bath.

Street 1, west 0-8, dug between wall at T and wall at Omega leaving some samples of debris. Wherever heavy debris was removed it has been photographed. Just south of wall north of T, west 6-9 - there is a natural and early accumulation free of debris and stones but containing sherds - Hellenistic and earlier as one approaches rock. Earth in this area west of street all darkened by vegetation. Began removing Street 1, Y-X, west 10-12, surface soil. Dark earth - few stones or debris. Large and worked stones being removed to area west of U, 14 west.

11 Apr49

Removing surface soil depth 0-30 cm Street 1, Y-X west 0-2. (dark soil - doubtless due to vegetation) Continued removing Street 1, Y-X, west 10-12, surface soil. Dark earth, few stones or debris.
