21 Trench 9, a-d south 6-12, after removing strat 2. Reached an ancient ground level north of wall running north-south at about 10 south. Large stones showing were in strat. 2. Street 1 E-H west 4-6, 2d strat, no debris and only small stones, but not many. Loose brown soil. Finished digging I-A, west 0-4 strat 3. No sherds found here Also, A-M, west 0-4 no sherds but 2 coins found F 308 and F 325. I-M west 0-4 no sh. tiles either. in strat. 3. See section pp. 975 and 845 Floor and foundation of floor at bottom of stratum 3. Finished digging G-I, west 4-8, strat. 2. I & K, west 6-8, strat. 2. K-A, west 4-12, strat 2. A-M, west 8-12, strat 2. Dig trench 9, a-y, south 10-11, strat 2. See section p. 1019. Also trench 9, y-d south about 8-10 m, strat 2 to floor level just west of cistern 3. Also, d-e, south 6-8, strat 2 to floor level over cistern and just to north of it. See Film III no's 18 & 19 for this area after clearing to ground level.
