4 Dec. 1947 Trench 10, Γ-E, east 18-20, surface soil. Finished clearing to what appears to have been a trodden level in court of East Bldg (w. of north porch). See Film 102 # 29 & 30. In center of court there is a pit - probably a modern intrusion, which we began excavating today. May have been one of Cesnola's. Continuing p. 855-4-3: and p. 851-4 drains.
