Nov 7 Trench 1 to E. Found conduit at a in Trench 2. Extended Tr 2 to a. Digging out surface soil. Began stripping second stratum of soil Trench 1 between walls at E and wall at A and a. Only surface begun Trench 2. S.E. corner of cistern begun to be [cleared]. Extension of [terra cotta] pipe at E. One small branch 11 meters at E-a? and parallel with it running from wall at A. see plan conduit extended and of [which] direction along wall
