(SHERDS FROM TRENCH 43, CONT.) 80
III Trench reco: 17/4/1940 Αγ. Ερμογ. X. 43 γαστρια [glasses] (on one medium βαθ. από 2.67 μέχρι sack of sherds 4.90 p. 115_2_ and 1 small sack μέσα στήν πεσμένη with few glass frag.) στέγη ([Just under I]?
A. Frags. of large plain ware pots more than half the lot. Part of a Rhodian (?) handle; much ribbed ware; frags of double-handled jars (cf. p. 68); piece of heavy ware with distinct wheel marks inside and vertical shaving outside (red clay with white bits, buff slip? ). Some white ware. Frags of coarse ware, including handle & bases, some rather thin walled coarse, prob. local imitation of something.
B. Lighter weight plain ware "Casserole" ware. fair quantity, in- [margin left: x Prob. part of P1612] cluding good-size frag. x with handle and with top of rim concave (to take lid?) I do not know if most of this ware is locally made, but all it is difficult to draw the line between the clay of the thin coarse ware and the "casserole" ware (in general a little finer but having the white bits).
- shoulder of a small amphora or jug.
- 3 base frags. of conical flasks (see
p.72, 3), 2 joining from one flask, the other from a smaller one. cont. p. 82
