[illegible, ~5 lines] Sherds from Trench 43 - aside from those described pp. 62-88, there are some odd collections: - "Ay. Epm. x 43 p. 117-3 Δρομος του Βοριου ταφου" contains only 3 items, a loomweight? (short cylinder pierced off center) and two amphora tips, each w. depression center underneath, and another depression possibly accidental opposite to original one. One of them (six-sided tip, drawn) is a type of Classico- Roman I (flaring pug, centered depressin) the other tapers downward. It seems possible these objects may have been used in a rough way as wheels. ? 11. D. 6. 1940 Ay. Ephagios/501. 10.5. 1940, collection "from the sieve" attributed to pots # 1, 2, 3 of Tomb 1 and one journal dated thus.

With an obsolete figure: p. 117, 1 " " 2 p. 118, 2 s " " 3 s " " 3 or is it this

A Frags. of large plain-ware pots: over half the lot. 1.) Some Rhodian? - of fine non-micaceous light red clay, uniform color to all through. surface sometimes creamy, look as if from amphorae (no handles or tips pres.) 2.) Good deal of ribbed, grooved, or rayed ware "overlapping" ribbed (drawing) (rather fine red clay, slightly micaceous, remains of slip (?) sand-ware: piece of marrow-neck, high-rimmed pot 3.) Rims, as with horizontal fluting - necks of large pot, heavy fabric, clay with many bits, fired red to brownish, thin red wash; with this seems to go piece of broad vertically ribbed handle 4.) grooved and red-washed inside, rim of big bowl or open pot; frag. of rather flat base may belong; clay similar to preceeding
