22/V/40 | Assisted Virginia, hardening bones with ambroid this morning and early this afternoon. Am now preparing to take out Gold #31 to "S." and "W." of skeleton of beast. It consists of numerous small slender leaves of thin gold leaf, all at approximately same level.

[margin left: Handwriting = S. Anderson. J.F.D.]

7/VII/40 n.b. The bone hardening was not entirely successful owing to our not having the proper solution - [illegible] too much celluloid - so that the dried surface was white and not much penetrated. In Jerusalem (see p. 33) learned proper solution: amyl acetate 50 c c acetone 50 c c celluloid 2 grams (called a "2 %" solution)

Drew with Elia, mostly bones, but also the various areas of gold #9, and a few odd things.

Christo cleared away upper bones between gold #9 and wall, and part of lower next wall there, uncovering part of a larg greenish stone below.

Margin left: See also p. 40

Began also taking out bones of skeleton pushed against back ("E") wall. Removed mirror (case?) # 19, 31 (see S.A.'s notes), 38, 48, 49, 53, 55, 59,

Finished with Elia a few odd bones and the gold patches called hitherto generally #9. Took levels of them, writing them art above sketch copied roughly from plan, where too much is written in already in this place. #9 proper is now only the mouth piece (?) It is crumpled so as to be at levels .01+ different from each other. Patch next it and partly continuous with it?, of leaves arrangd in a circl ca. .035 long, called 9a. 9b, another patch, various levels. 9c, upper part of that patch, w. level .88 9d, various odd bits drawn which seem to belong to same mass, incl. also so many leaves of this type blown out of place since clearing. Levels vary, but so they do in practically continuous parts. Achmet now clearing more leaves under portion of #7-8, to be called 9e, put with 9d
