197 wall of Room JZ, the plaster on the wall extends down below socle which does extend to wall. This wall has probably been washed away by the rains as this is the lowest corner of the room. N.B. in SW corner of Room JZ, a hard soil except in SW corner.

The pattern of mosaic as shown on plan fits in with the above assumption that they mosaic ended against no walls. The only diffulty is with the wall of first period if this extended above mosaic as it did in last period, any design in mosaic is sen impossible. Rather the door. in wall of first period must have been closed up for third period. another example of architect not placing foundations on bed rock.

\for another possible example of wall reutilization of older wall III p. 93/ 198 The wall at at an angle of the first period continued in use until the was utilized in the third period. Just south of panel 1s door it was filled probably during for the building of the second period, and certainly for the building of the third period. That this wall extended up beyond the floor level of panel 1 is shown by the following photo where the plaster joins the upper stone which is higher than that of mo pa floor of panel one.

Since this is so, panel 1 on its south side probably had two doors one on either side of the wall at an angle of first period. Certainly it had on one side the east side and symmetry - the door block is preserved - and it should have as symmetry would demand that there be one on the other side. Unfortunately the door block or any block is missing on the west side.
