The total of six coins found in the third layer, which was only four of or five cm thick and which in contradistinction to the second and first did not extend beyond north south wall, is noteworthy. This layer may well have been a floor. In any case, the whole fill - four layers must all date after 400 A. D. and the first two must be later than the mosaic to the west whose rough foundations they cover. Rather first is covers foundations and second is a filling for first if one supposes the third to be a floor, but the two must go together, and must be approximately contemporary with the entrance mosaic and hence with the building as a hole. However, it there are two other possibities, 1. that the entrance mosaic and this room are a later addition or that 2. that there were stone steps on third layer which covered up foundations of mosaic. The first possibility is to be excluded because the main entrance must be where it is and there is no indication of a reconstruction of this entrance. Of the second there is no indication

Is the north wall of room bonded with the west, i.e. contemporary.
-> The first layer goes to south wall with which it may be contemporary. It may be the counterpart of the first layer in Room WMS and part of the reconstruction of the building from after the reign of Leo I. The second layer covers foundations of mosaic and must be contemporary with it.
