22 July 1949In north west corner of area north of path, third layer is not as on p. 42. In this corner, from a point 50 cm south of north wall, along north of along west wall, probably to NE there is a slightly different soil lying on third layer. It went down 25 to 30 cm below top of stones which were probably of door.

The fill in the cistern under the mosaic goes down the same as far as we dug There were lines in it and they show that the soil came from the south side of mouth or possibly from entrance on south. There was one inclined in this south

120 cm south of east drain leading from [bath] under mosaic, the foundation of circular bath projects. 45 cm whereas by east drain the this. foundation wall projects only 3 cm.
