Clea Room M. cleared SW corner. of 8th layer. a few signs of fire on top of ninth layer here. Took out two last pipes. There was a clay around thes pipes which extended out further on NE side than SW. On SW. stones are larger and higher too, On NE side, of last pipe there was no clay. The ninth layer extends underneath pipes without change. The signs of fire are much stronger on NE side than on SW. There are a number of holes in ninth layer just as there wer in eighth. In ninth layer about 42 cm from east wall inside a definite rim and probably a change of soil. This seems to join with change of soil north of room which was included into seventh,

Along south wall, tiles go at right angles to tiles in center. The tiles in the center of the building are resting on the ground. Towards west end, some tiles have fallen leaving exposing undersurface of mosaic. On west and north, the cave slopes down sharply. On the east part of South side, there is an arch beyond which a hollow in the bedrock.

Work stopped 16:00.

Putting soft cement around edges of mosaic, hard enough to last through winter best or and soft enough to allow mosaics to be taken up.
