21-7-51 the wall as preserved in the center of the room. This definitely precludes the corner a little further S. that JFD had on plans.

The built platform in front of the wall goes down on to the early wall or, where this has been removed, to the stereo. The stones of the early wall have here been removed a little lower than outside & the plaster on the walls forms a clear corner over them. We thus have a sort of pit made up of the built platform against the wall, then a parallel wall of bricks in the room with plaster on the inside, giving an inner width of ca. 0.33 m. Its NW end was formed by the heavy plaster edge of the wall between 2:1 and 2:4. The built platform has a total length of 1.88 m, all from outer indications in the part left undug it would seem that the built pit went most of this length. The depth of the pit from the floor to the top of the stones is ca. 0.32 m.

Actually there seem to be 2 periods, the first a pit 0.17-- deep, and protruding only slightly above the lowest floor of 2:1. When this floor was raised, it seems a new row of bricks was added to raise the pit above the floor. The 3rd floor seems to have covered over the whole thing. Built platform also in 2 stages as 2nd floor goes right over
