3.11.48Room E of 21:9

Start cleaning outside the NE corner of 21:9, through a small section of red earth that was left against the wall. In the East (b) gritty red earth goes to bed-rock. In the west (a) it gives way to less gritty, sandy red earth with stones, which goes to a chavara floor, ca. 55 cm. below the level of the higher rock to the SE. This stops clearly at the rock line separating A & B. It is cut for the W & S LCIII walls. Dig below this & find another chavara floor, 15 cm. lower in the S., only ca. 2 cm. lower in the north. This slopes up on to the cutting between a & b, & runs under the west wall.
