26.5.3921:17 (from p. 61) 67 north. There was a distinct band of loose red-brown earth between the N + S parts of this room, going down on to a rock cutting + some stones of a wall.

27.5.39 Dig below 6.74 in 21:17 N, finding red earth under the chavara, at 6.87 Photo Bam. '39. 221-2 at 6.74 Dig below 6.87 through loose red earth. The 6.74 → 6.87/ debris runs partly over the E. wall; the 7.08 stops at it. The loose red earth goes in part to the lower plaster floor, at 7.08; in part to a thin layer of clay over it.

Photo Bam. 39. 223-226 at lowest pavement The wall between 17 N + 17 S is now clear. It was largely covered by the red level (6.87 - 7.08) and the upper pavement. Dig behind (E. of) the E. wall, finding a layer of mixed grey, red. + green clayey earth, 6.15 below the rock. Dig out part of the loose earth under the lowest pavement It seems to be posterior to the floor, due to an attempt to plunder the filled tomb over which this room lies Photo Bam. '39. 227 before clearing intrusive fill (to p. 73)
