Remove the grey-brown earth at 6.58 by the W. wall. There were many sherds in it, apparently lying on the lower 6.70 level, though the earth looks like top-soil. Dig below 6.55 in the rest of the unit, through very red earth mixed with patches of brown, and find light yellow-brown at 6.70. The surface was at 6.70.
25.5.39 The 6.70 level has considerable gravel on it; it may be a floor. In the S.E., just north of a bothros dug , is a cutting in bed-rock covered by several large stones in disturbed (black) earth. In the main part dig through gravelly brown earth below 6.70, finding clean redder-brown earth at 6.74. In the north sandy slightly red-brown earth goes to clayey light brown earth at 6.72. Dig below 6.72 and start to find a plaster floor at 6.74 (N)
