Finish clearing below 11.40 = 11.63, *finding a thick stoney strosis at 11.47 = 11.83 Photos 233-5 at 11.47 = 11.83 Start removing stones and digging below 11.47 = 11.83. The earth is slightly redder and sandier, but there is still no fundamental change.

27.4.38 Find a real change to redder earth in the south, but the archaic stone fill continues down in the center. Stop at another archaic stone layer (not a change of earth). Photo 240 at this level

28.4.38 Dig below, finding cleaner redder earth (presumably L.C. III) in places, in others a close-set layer of stones, apparent ly the bottom of the archaic wall, laid fairly regularly, at 11.10 to (12.10.?) Photos Bam. 247-250

2-5-38Remove the last stones, finding brown earth free of stones at 12.26

3-5-38 Dig below 12.26, finding a level with much sand& stone and ash patches at 11.97 : 12.52 (lowest) This may be the same as (to p. 33)
