20-5-38TR. 12, South (from p. 85)

The rock fill stops 4.00 M. south of the triangular piece of rock. Continuing north from it we find a stony fill with great numbers of pithos sherds. In the north we find a level with many stones in greyish mud, very firm and conceivably a floor, at 7.92

23-5-38 Remove the rock fill, which contains vast numbers of pithos sherds. It rests on red-blown earth.

Photo 289Photo 290 before removing rock fill. Digging below the red-brown earth we find a second white level over the entire part where the rock fill was. Photo 21 at 2nd white layer. Dig below the 2nd white layer and find a 2nd brown layer, with some stones. These levels all slope very steeply, so no measurements have been given. They will be shown in a cross section.

24-5-38 Dig through the 2nd brown (to p. 103)
