3-5-382E1 + 2E2 West (from p. 31)

Dig below 11.36 = 11.45, through fairly clean red earth, stopping at a firm red level, clayey, with white grits. In the north of 2E2 there is a change to greyer looser earth, more or less in the line of the LCII wall under 2:26. (in 2E2) This wte gritty level is at 11.61, sloping in the N-E (by the stones) to 11.79. In 2E1 it is at 11.38 = 11.50

4-5-38 Photos 258-260, showing 2E1-2 West at 11.38 = 11.50 and 11.61 = 11.79. Visible are the archaic (?) wall in 2E1, with traces of the L.C. III wall of similar orientation beneath it in both 2E1 + 2E2; the earth in the line of the L.C. II wall in 2E2 has not been cut, and the piece of masonry on the 10.40 level is visible.

Dig below 10.40 in the line of the L.C. II wall in 2E2, and find the same gritty-red clay as elsewhere at 11.61 = 11.79. At the extreme north of 2E2 there is a change of earth. Dig below 11.61 = 11.79, coming down on the L.C. II stoney fill in places, in others upon a firm layer of greyish clay, at 11.68 = 11.86 in 2E2. (to p. 45)
