Finish clearing to the rock in 2:13, finding some more post pits in the south.

5-4-38Unit in Circuit Wall.

Find a cutting in the rock, maybe a pit. The first 5-10 cm. are hard and stoney, brown. Below this the earth becomes cleaner + softer redder, but the stones continue down. In the east pit #1 is cut by pit #2, with loose red earth, with relatively few stones. It goes under the E-W. wall (?) of the unit in circuit wall, and continues under the archaic fill. Photo 206 of pit #1 partly + pit #2 entirely cleared within area dug

6-4-38Finish digging pit #1, within the area cleared. Both it and #2 continue under undug earth on the N, #2 on ? the east too Photo 208 of pits #1 + 2 as cleared
