18-5-37TRENCH 2 from p. 19

Unit 27: Second E. ext of unit 25 E: On 15-5-37 we started to open another wedgeshaped area N-E of the 1st ext., to include the line of the east wall of unit 26, which was not included before. The surface at the N-E corner is at 10.34. Dig immediately to the 2nd strosis, at 10.91, and isolate two intrusions.. Start digging below this and find the same level as at 10.66 = 10.98, in the 1st ext., at 10.91 at point c (plan, p. 14)

Unit 26: Dig the small N-E corner not cleared before. Digging below 10.81 (p. 14, # b) we find a packed earth floor with considerable lime, and some ash on it, at 10.84. This is the same as the 10.76 = 10.90 floor in the rest of the unit (J.F.D. IV, p. 149), and it seems to be an occupation level, rather than a level in tumble, as first thought. Dig below 10.84 and find the 10.86 = 10.94 floor (see J.F.D. IV, p. 149).
