2:8, "well" in stone structure at N.W. of room. A surface intrusion went clear down through this, cutting the chavara floor x. x is a continuation of the 10.44 = 10.55 floor of this room. The N-W stone structure is probably of Per. 2 (or at the earliest late Per. 1), and was built on top of the Per. 1 floor. See also p. 79 or per. 3

floor of earth with some limestone and sandstone, bringing up the level of the earlier floor. Dig through this wedge-like floor (10.42 = 10.46) and find the eastern continuation of the white floor, at 10.42 = 10.55

Unit 8: The chavara floor is found only in the western third. In the eastern 2/3 we find first a layer of soft sandy earth with a great deal of ash, at 10.49 = 10.56. We dig through this and find a clayey floor with a great deal of ash, (at 10.54 = 10.64). This is the same as the 10.44 = 10.51 level in the west, but the floor slopes more steeply than we thought. The stones stop at this level. The 10.51 level in the east must have been a filling over the earlier floor.

Unit 17: Remove the plaque in the N-W. It is x x x It covers two small pits, part of a series along the north wall. Of these, pit [#?] #3 is cut by #2, which in turn, is cut by no. 1, so 3 is the oldest, #1 the most recent. (to p. 159)
