partly on the floor in places where there was no tumble. No sherds at all were found in the pure sandstone layer. In the S-E corner the sandstone layer was cut by an intrusion of sandy brown earth. This appears to have come from above the 10.62 = 10.70 floor. It stops at the 10.68 = 10.87 floor. The wall to unit 22 is incomplete, many stones having been removed at a period posterior to the the 10.62 = 10.70 floor. The line of the wall is clear from the cuttings of the floors adjacent and the line where they stop. The earth in the line of the wall is red-brown, loose + gritty. A fair-sized pit in the middle of the east side of unit 18 is either a continuation of the S-E intrusion or else an extension of stone-robbing, probably the latter. The S-E intrusion existed when the wall was destroyed, for it was cut by the excavation for stones. (to p. 131)
