2.3.37TRENCH 3

Start trench #3, at right angles to trench #2, starting 6 meters to the east opposite square Δ. The trench is 2 M. wide, and is extended during the day to a length of 10 M. Stroses: 1. 0-0.20 Top-soil, as in tr. 2 2. 0.20-0.60 Red strosis, as in Tr. 2. Many L.C. II & LH III sherds.

3.3.37Sect. A : at 0.60 there begins a strosis with much clay, chiefly burnt. There is a slight levelling off at 0.70, probably fortuitous. At 0.80 is a good floor, running in section B over bed-rock, but filled out to run level where the rock scoops. At the east in B are numerous stones, probably from a wall. There are many sherds lying on the 0.80 floor. In the earth just above the floor find the ring, p. 110, #2

In sections H and Θ find many stones, almost certainly a wall. There is a marked change here. Above the wall (i.e. west of it) we find archaic earth 20 cm. down, as elsewhere in (to p. 115)
