General notes on tomb 25 - after clearing
The original order in the tomb is not known. It was disturbed by Tomb 24 y, robbed when it was dug, but apparently not dug. It had not yet caved in then. The contents of the tomb were thrown in a heap against the right wall, and the skeleton was largely demolished. A wall was built between 24 y and 25, to separate the two, and support the walls. Tomb 24 ß overlaps tomb 25. Not enough remains of the skeleton in 25 to know its nature. What bones were preserved were, however, very small, so it was probably a child. One gold ear-ring was found, by a fragment of the skull. It seems unlikely that the other was stolen at the time the tomb was broken into, for both would have been visible, and both taken. # It is more likely that there never was more than one. There are numerous parallels. The finds in tomb 25 are very early geometric: "sub-mycenaean". Especially interesting are the hand-made black pots. Chronology: the difference in time between tombs 25 + 24 y is long enough for the skeleton to have dried (so as to have been so badly dispersed), but not long enough for the roof and walls to have caved in (the objects were obviously clean when they were moved). In this necropolis the walls could not have \stood\ long. Tomb 24 is cut under the dromos of 25, so thinly that 24 must be later, or the "of 25 would have broken through.
