VI [triangle][triangle] 0.75 coin (37) (drawing) C3737 on wall Constantine I

Dig opening in VI K to the bottom (total depth from top 4.00). The pottery for most of the deposit seems to be to IV cent. B.C., with many whole pots. The last 20 or 25 cms. contain a good deal of geometric pottery (black on red), and terracotta figurines (horse and rider most common, also female figure, and pigs head ryton. From the general nature of the cutting, as cleared, and the fact that no waterproofing was used (hence it was not a cistern) it appears possible that this may have been a grave, robbed and altered to suit some other purpose (store-house?) when the later walls were built.

Continue to dig the same grave (?), starting with the entrance in VI I.

L20 VI K Cister Pit 3.60-3.80. Flat trefoil lamp P III VI K Pit 3.60-3.80 frags. of black bowl.
