TRENCH NO XIII
In trench no. 13 we found a colonade, faced by a pavement of flagging, and continued by a rubble wall, including many reused blocks. It is probable that this is part of the gymnasium ( see under trench no. 17). The columns are of local sandstone, vaguely fluted. In section O we found two marble colums, not in place. They are of narrow proportions, probably of very late Roman date.
The monumental remains uncovered in this trench were covered by a uniform sandy fill, of late Roman date.
The only special finds were two bronze coins.
