Page 1914 13 May 50. Removed SE Bldg., room 3, p. 1887-5, loose red soil, great many rough stones, large & small, for which see Film 138-16, 17, & 20, and draughtsman's plan; removed 3 buckets of shards and great quantity of tiles which I have stacked up in court at E 13.00, N 3.00. The pile measures 0.85 x 0.96 x 0.40 m. Found glass, lamps, glass. 15 May [handwritten: 1650] Removed SE Bldg., room 2. 1667-3, reddish loose soil, much of soil coins F 1000-1004 incl., 1005-7 incl., and iron frags. 1017. 15 May 1650. characteristic of fallen roof, many rough stones. See Film 135-15; about 1 bucket of shards - removed in 2 bags - bag no. 2 containing sherds found in s.w. corner only, and Finds 1008-15 incl. Bits of painted wall plaster were found everywhere in this stratum, some samples being particularly good - blue, red & green are about the only colors noted. Panels with borders in these colors. In 1667-3 appeared a number of piled up cover tiles which appear to have been stored here before the roof of the building caved in. See
Page 1918 Film 133-21 & 22. Numbering larger pile F 1014 and smaller F 1015, but not removing them as yet. Placed tags on them. Removed only a little over a bucket of tiles from debris - these presumably fell from roof and were not stored as F 1014 & F 1015 in room. Surprising that these stored cover tiles should not have been more broken - possibly a mud roof fell first and protected them against the subsequent fall of the walls. For top of 1667-4 see also Film 138-23. The top of 1667-3 was removed separately - marking this bag Bag 3 although shards were removed before those in Bag 1 and 2 on May 11. Finds at top of this stratum (1667-3) include F 998 & 999. Painted plaster from here also F 1016. Bag 3 of shards makes nearly a bucket of shards for 1667-3.

Page 1950 16 May 50. On 12 May removed Temp. room 2, 1671-4, along re-enforcing wall placed in this room to support the west wall of the temple. Soil & debris, had already been removed at this level during the middle mx of April on the west half of the room. From this west half removed great quantity of rough stones, reddish loose soil, over a bucket of tiles, and about 3/4 bucket of shards. Along re-enforcing wall on east side removed about 1/5 bucket of shards and very few tiles - about 1/8 bucket in a stratum (1671-4) much harder than that on the west side (also 1671-4) unlike 3 see diary p.1616 for 17 March. side of room sherds & come from. For strat. 3 only about 3 handfuls of shards & over a bucket of tiles. Tiles Removed from 3 are on north wall (stacked); tiles from 4 are on south wall. See Film 138-29 & 30 for room after removing strat. 4.
