In Propylon Porch dug under late wall (north wall) at point 4.40-4.77 from east wall to find if an earlier wall might occur here; depth 0.62-0.82 (rock) below top of late north plinth; about 1/8 bucket sherds, and 2 pieces of lime concrete. No finds or tiles; a fill of brown clean soil without stones over bedrock. In Propylon court dug sample of strat. left along north wall before last war. See Film 136-21 & 34. Upper part of accumulation contained no sherds but about 3 handfuls were found near bedrock, no glass or other finds - about 1 wheelbarrow load of tiles. No sherds in upper part of this debris.
