28 Nov. Fine, clear weather. Removing surface soil trench 10, A-B, east 22-26. Trench 10 A-gamma, west 16-18, surface soil down to [handwritten: plank]. Mr. Hill continues digging north and east of east building. Trench 10, delta-E, stratum 4 (in rock-hewn trench) east 10-12. Tracing drain system east into trench 9 system. Dug trench 9, delta-9; south 8-10. Also cleared out part of drain leading from plateia between south building and street [handwritten: 1]

29 Nov. Trench 10, B-gamma, east 18-22, surface soil. Many coins turning up in upper part of drain here. Draftsman drawing longitudinal section of trench 10, A-Z, east 4-6. 1 Dec. Mr. Hill continues digging north of north porch of east building extending area further north. See film 102, number 6 and 7. I dug trench 9, delta-zeta, south 8-10, down to 1 meter. Dec. 2 Filling in trench 9, E-I north 24-28 (See film 102, number 17) and rock-hewn trench north end south section street 1 trench 9, about theta, north about 19. See page 737. Also filled in up to a few centimeters below pavement, page 691 and page 693 areas. Continuing to dig drain leading from street 1, trench 10, page 831- 2. Finished digging page 827 drain stratum 5. Removing stratum below stylobate north of north porch of east building. This area I am calling the east building court. Continued digging trench 9, zeta - eta, east 8-10, debris. Removed page 829 - 3.

Dec. 3 Filling in portico street 1, room with large threshold. Continued digging trench 9,zeta - eta, south 8-10, debris - down to possible trodden level where debris ends. Continued excavating in east building court. Began digging page 835-2, in drain. Reached rock in drain at gamma page 831-3. (Page 836 written) in center 866 removed surface soil was (Page 866) removed. A-B, east 18-22. Began A-b, east 18-22. Some surface soil was removed here A-b before war. Digging debris in room southeast of southeast corner of alley (east building).

4 Dec. 1947 Trench 10, gamma - E, east 18-20, surface soil finished cleaning to what appears to have been trodden level in court of east building (north of north porch). See film 102, numbers 29 and 30. In center of court there is a pit - probably a modern intrusion which we began excavating today. See page 831 - 3 and page 835 - 4 drains. Digging trench 9, gamma -d,
