West of Temple B (always west of moulded base & B 2 metres north of it on moulded base) A-Delta west 2-8 (A at south west corner of moulded base). Trench 9 Lambda-Mu north 6-14, K-Lambda north 0-4. Lambda-Mu north 0-2, I-K south 0-8, E-Iota south 0-2 (Street 1, Xi and Trench 9 north 32 lie on the same line. Street 1 XI equals Trench 9 H-Iota west 52). Began digging 2nd stratum of water conduit. Trench 9 a-gamma south 14-15. See Film 14 no. 27. Surface soil dark brown. Second stratum reddish brown - no stones. 3rd stratum cut into inadvertently by workmen.

April 5Water drain at Tr. 9 Alpha-gamma, A-B, south 16. See Film 14 No. 30. Workmen removed part of 3rd stratum along with second, stopped just about 50 cm. east of A. Threw out from beta-gamma about 1/3 basket sherds. Sample kept. Some glass found among the sherds in drain. Surface soil dark 2nd stratum reddish 3rd stratum quite red. No stones in 2nd or 3rd strata. See Film 15 No. 3. Coin Find No. 329 (p. 247) found upright in second stratum. Workman removed second stratum of drain from A-B without cutting into third. Coin definitely in second and not in third stratum. No sherds found in second stratum from A to B.
