KALORIZIKI, TOMB 37

NB III, p. 44 ff

November 20, 1935Find the dromoi of Tombs 37 and 38, the former (apparently) crossed by the latter. Begin clearing the dromos of 37.

November 22Begin opening the earth over the chamber. The top of the door is so high that it would be dangerous to open the tomb from below.

Photos E 7, 8, and 9 of dromos and door. E 11 of chamber E 12 of chamber F 1 of pot no. 25 in situ with skeleton.

November 24Remove 30 objects, including an Egyptian scarab, from the chamber. There was no trace of bones where the arrangement would have led one to expect a skeleton, but the bones of an adult woman were found in pot no. 25. They were in relatively good condition, but it is clear, both from their arrangement and their size that they were not placed there until the body had disintegrated.
