BAMBOULA, TOMB 36 NB VIII, p. 71
26 May 1939Discover Tomb 36 in the eastern part of Lot 271, ca 10 M. .... north of the road.
The tomb had collapsed and was full of konnos rock and dark earth. The konnos goes right down onto pots and skeletal remains, the latter badly splintered. The tomb clearly collapsed before there was time for the accumulation of earth in the tomb. It is completely unplundered.
29 MayClear the floor. Many beads are found on a thin layer of earth about a centimeter above the rock floor.
Photos Bam. '39, 228-234?5 235 is obviosly settlement of tomb cleared.
There are two burials i n situ. I, along the south side, and II running north-south in the center, are the latest. There are a few traces of bones running east-west along the north side, the legs apparently to the east. In the east there is a mass of bones from at least two skeletons. These seem to represent the earliest burial period, thrown aside for the later interments.
Drawing of tomb shows floor 1.65 m from surface (1.20 m from top of rock)1 JuneWe look in vain for the dromos. The step in the tomb shows that it was on the west, but it is not preserved.
