AREA A STRATUM E THE STREET

In spite of the fact that the street was frequently resurfaced, there is no difference in the final paving to indicate a gap between the collapse of the two houses in question. Strict contemporaneity is proved by two sherds, Sh209 and Sh211. Although these are from one and the same Submycenaean vase, one sherd was found on the surface of the street under the debris of house A.V, the other on the same level but under the debris of house A.VI. We conclude from this that houses A.V and A.VI collapsed at the same time, and that this was after the introduction of the Submycenaean ware.
