23.Needless to say, I have not been able to find any actual bronze vases of this shape in Palestinian excavation reports. There is nevertheless a rather striking parallel in Attica of a type of jug with metallic round mouth and upswung handle (E. Pfuhl Malerei und Zeichnung der Griechen Munich 1923 No.787: Vol.III Pl.350 and Vol.I, p.405) of which numerous bronze specimens exist (SCE II Pl.XLIX; M. Bieber Die Antiken Skulpturen und Bronzen des Kaiserlichen Museum Frederielanum in Cassel Marburg 1915 Pl.LII No.382-384 with further literature). I do not suppose there is really a connection between the Attic type and the Bamboula type, although, they are roughly contemporary and, as far as I know, the original inspiration for the Attic type has not been determined.
