None of the column in the theatre A drawing of the capitals of D+F shows near identical cut [inserted: that] as can be seen by the table below. [inserted: fragments of this sort.] A thoroughly convars of the neighborhood might produce even more

But the story does not end here. At some distance from the actual site, lying [inserted: in an area of / the so-called Sanctuary of Demeter] [inserted: just east of the stadium] are two more sizeable fragments of spirally fluted columns. [inserted: The material of which may or may not these is] [inserted: belong/together.] reported as basalt of fine gray-black [inserted: neither to be slate-like in texture/ nor of that] color, [inserted: The color, the type and number] of channels set these off definitely from those previously discussed. Moreover, they

do not fit Ross's description of bluish marble. This does not mean they cannot have originated, [inserted: ultimately,] in the theatre. In any case there is nothing in the scanty published references to the Sanctuary in question to suggest they had any [inserted: real] connection with it. [inserted: x] Even in the entirely average village tradition is totally silent on the subject.

Before discussing the historical use of the columns I shall sum up, [inserted: clear/plus] the evidence about them in this following table:)
