These recall the two partridges eating in the bath at Narlidja 637 and possibly that in our bath.638 Thirdly, there was a panel of mosaic with nine frames.639 In these frames, were the pictures of animals. Three of these have been lost. There remain the other six. In two adjacent frames, were the rabbit and the hound which pursues the rabbit.640 As this dog wears a collar on his neck, he is in all probability the hound of the devil. This is, in part, the rabbit described in the Physiologos and related to that depicted in the bath at Narlidja, and possibly to the rabbits or hares in the orthodox baptistery in Ravenna.641 In a third panel, there is a lamb-probably that mentioned amongst other places in the Greek rite of baptism, [handwritten: ποίην δὲ αὐτὸν προσβατὸν λογικὸν τῆς ἁγίας ποίμνης]644 and possibly to those in the orthodox baptistery at Ravenna.645 It suggests Christ as the shepherd of his flock.646 In the fourth panel, there is an ass. Of a wild ass, Ps.-Basil says [handwritten: Τότε ἐὰν δεδοξασμένος ὑπὸ τοῦ Κυρίου, ὅτε ἐν οἷ γέννηταί πόλεμος τῆς σαρκὸς, καὶ κρατήσῃ τὴν ἀρετὴν καὶ ἀντίστῃ τῷ πολέμῳ.]647 This is analogous to the meaning of the partridge in our building. [handwritten: Ἁγνισμὸν τὴν καρδίαν σου καὶ ἁκλήρωσον δίκην μετὰ τὰς ἑναντίας ἁνάμεις.]648
In the fifth frame, is a lion. [handwritten: ἡ ex] The Physiologos gives of the lion three interpretations, one of which is directly concerned with baptism.
