UNIVERSITY INTRAMURAL CORRESPONDENCE MUSEUM
November 18, 1980Dear Martin:
Since sending in my own budget request for 1981 I have discussed with Spyro the matter of the publication by Dr. Ellen Herscher of the Cypriote objects in our collections from sites there other than our own excavations.
It is expected that Dr. Herscher will begin work on these shortly and that she will need [handwritten: photographs] since she will be on a commuting schedule from Washington.
We have considered requesting that the photographic work be done by the Museum's Photography Laboratory. Our estimate for the ca. 290 pieces in two views amounts to 7395.00. This seems extravagant in view of this year's stringencies so I am suggesting instead that I undertake the work myself with my own excellent Nikormat camera. The results (with Richard Green) have been good in the past and I think will be quite satisfactory for study purposes. The processing will be done commercially. Again past results have been very good. This would reduce the cost to the figure given on the attached budget request to 215.50, a very appreciable saving.
Sincerely,
Handwritten: Roger
