THE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM of Archaeology/Anthropology
Nov. 28, 1983Dear David:
Your letter of the 24th arrived today. In the nick of time, actually, since I have to turn in budget requests for 1984 by Dec. 1.
I am glad to hear that you will be charging ahead with the publication. It should be a splendid production. The mosaics are really so very special.
I am also glad to hear that you will be able to find funds for the conservator's work, reducing your total request from us to 750.00. This seems a plausible amount. And in fact you will have no competition from our other Kourion authors: none of the others has made a request for funds for 1984.
According to my notes of July 25 of this year I still owe you the following:
119 5 x 7" prints of mosaics or excavations
145 xeroxes of diary pages (in light blue ink so they will have to be done outside)
I did get funds to cover the above from the Director in August, to supplement the original inadequate funding. So I can go ahead with them now. In fact I have been on the point of dealing with them this week anyhow. The photographs may well take some time. I would think they might be finished perhaps in February or March. The xeroxes I can provide quickly as soon as I locate an outside xerox place which can produce satisfactory results.
Well, cheers anyhow, and good wishes -
Sincerely,
