November 24, 1983Professor G. Roger Edwards Classical Archaeology Group University Museum University of Pennsylvania 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, PA 19104 U.S.A.

Dear Roger,

After over five months since our last exchange of letters I would imagine that it's best that we resume corresponding on our longstanding topic, the Eustolios mosaics. I had two conversations and an exchange of letters with Dr. Karageorghis after Professor Dyson's brief visit to the island in July. The upshot of all of this is that the completion of the Eustolios mosaics manuscript has become a number one priority item for me. As a result of Dr. Karageorghis' persuasive arguments I have set a deadline of January 1985 for myself to give you the finished typescript including plans and photographs.

As for the funds for this undertaking, the $1400 still stands as what I think is needed to complete the work outside of the writing. I will find money to cover the conservator's work on the coins, but I still would like a final grant of $750 from the Museum to cover the cost of the draughtsman to execute the [handwritten: final] drawings this winter. Since Dr. Karageorghis has linked each party's permit to do further field work on Cyprus to the completion of this research and the production of a publication, both of us then have a vested interest in achieving this goal as soon as possible. Financial assistance is needed to bring this about.

Your thoughts on when to send the remaining material suit my needs as they stand now.

The summer was productive in Cyprus as we discovered numerous new sites. It will take some time to work our way through all of the data. While I work on the Eustolios manuscript I will always have something to switch to for a momentary change.
