volume of material in terms of the large number of figurines and the various categories of information needed to analyze them can only be controlled and effectively assessed with the use of a computer. In order to retrieve the maximum amount of information from these pieces, each category must be analyzed separately and in light of other factors. Besides analysis of the individual pieces, types and possible workshops, computer-aided study could help to determine whether there was any pattern to the depositing of these figurines in the pit.
In addition to completion of the classification of fragments and verification of the preliminary classifications and cataloguing, it is vitally important to compare this material with the previously excavated terracottas from the site and with those from other sites in Cyprus. Comparisons of clays and technique, as well as stylistic similarities, will help to determine which of the pieces can truly be considered local and which might be imports. Preliminary research will be necessary to locate the most important parallels which can suggest places of origin and dates for the Kourion terracottas, but only actual examination of the parallel pieces will establish their true similarities. Thus, a second study season will be necessary to complete the project in the depth and thoroughness the material deserves.
