Dear Diana:
Thank you for your note and enclosure of the 24th.
I am interested in your proposed publication and am glad that you would see fit to include unpublished material from the McFadden excavations at Apollo. So far as I can see, however, this would be confined to major finds only. I confess to a hesitancy about this, since it would presumably leave us with the majority of the finds still unpublished. This seems to require further thought and discussion. It might be well to discuss the matter with Vassos to see what he would accept as constituting a satisfactory publication of the pottery and other objects from Apollo. As far as I am concerned you are quite welcome to publish Apollo material here. There is, I am sure, other Apollo material in Nicosia. I have talked briefly with Martin. I presume you will discuss financing with him.
I have made a beginning on sorting and re-storing Curium material in new cabinets, with the thought of making it more usable. I am now waiting for acid-free file folders etc. before proceeding with the files.
Some of this virtuous state is due to the fact that I will retire June 30. I do plan to continue on here on a voluntary basis to work with the collections, however. I have not decided if I wish to do anything further with Cyprus. It would probably be a sound idea to turn Curium and Lapithos over to someone else, if someone else could be found.
I hope you will indeed stop in during the spring. It is always good to see you.
Sincerely,
